Can you tell which one is the cuckoo egg? Yes…but if it weren’t for the arrows?

Nature knows few operators so crafty as the cuckoo, which lays eggs in other birds’ nests for incubation so it can carry on with species propagation, =mating. Not only that—there are seven different types of female cuckoos, each rigged to lay a distinct egg mimicking a particular species. And the most gangster part: Once the cuckoo hatches, it pushes all the other eggs—the rightful chicks—from the nest. It’s the ultimate sleeper cell.

But now this, from the BBC:

Cuckoos’ egg forgery skills are increasingly being put to the test, as host birds evolve better defences, say scientists.

1000 reblogs = $10

10000 reblogs = $100 .. and so on

Okay, we know, we know, it’s shameless self promotion. We will be using the increased traffic from our website to fund this donation. We will be sending Red Cross the check for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.

UPDATE: We forgot to add what we’d do if someone were to “like” the post. We will combine the reblogs and likes we got from our last post along with the reblogs and likes we get from this post.

We wish we can donate more, but it’s all we can handle. If you would like to donate directly to the cause, please click here.

Email us at what@viaSQUARED.com for any questions regarding this.

People stand beside St. Michael’s Tower on Glastonbury Tor Hill watching the moon as it progresses across the sky, at its closest point to the Earth for almost two decades, March 19, 2011. It is the first time since January 19, 1992, that the Moon has come into such close proximity to the Earth. (Ben Birchall/PA/AP Photo)
